The driving force of Awakening activity - day in and day out - is the Awakening Leadership Team. The leadership team is made up of young adults who love jesus, love their home churches, love those around, and know that they need to be surrounded by godly peers in order to grow in their own relationship with the lord and influence for his kingdom. Jon was instrumental in launching Awakening after seeing a need for a healthy outlet that young adults could get plugged into. He is Awakenings Executive Director, serves on the Awakening Oversight Board, captains our Leadership Team, leads Awakening's weekly Bible study known as "SNASS" (Sunday Night Awakening Scripture Soiree), participates in nights of worship and plays volleyball. Jon also works at Berean Baptist Church, helping with their worship-arts ministries and their finances. When Jon is not busy with work or Awakening, he and his wife Emily can be found enjoying the outdoors, playing with their dog, Bill, cycling, working on a house project, or doing something music-related.
Emily - Jon's wife - was touched by the genuine display of affection that others demonstrated for the Lord while attending her first worship night with Awakening while she was in college. She saw the Awakening community as an inroad to helping her cultivate a healthy and thriving relationship with Jesus, as well as an opportunity for "iron-sharpening-iron" friendships. Since then, she helps out wherever she is needed, including leading an exercise class and promoting Awakening through social media. She works as a staff reporter at Richland Source and enjoys doing artsy things, being outside and laughing.
Emily moved to the Mansfield area in 2010 after graduating from a Christian college. Awakening was an answer to her prayers to find a Christian community, and she has been involved ever since. She serves on the Awakening Oversight Board and sometimes paints during worship nights. She and her husband, Diego, enjoy opening their home to hear others' stories. She teaches Spanish at Lexington High School, where she looks forward to a weekly teacher/student prayer meeting. She dreams of writing a bilingual book some day.
Diego’s first Awakening experience was a New Year’s Eve worship service while visiting the United States. Since moving from Costa Rica to the states in 2014, he has been an active member of Awakening, using his musical and recording gifts to help lead and organize worship teams and music production. He hopes to make an album of instrumental music someday. Currently, he teaches third grade at the Spanish Immersion School in Mansfield. He and his wife, Emily, will be welcoming their first child in the spring of 2018.

He appreciates that Awakening gives him an opportunity to make lifelong friendships and that it helps him follow God’s plan for his life.
Praful was introduced to Awakening when his neighbors invited him to Awakening's Sunday night Bible study. He was immediately touched by the sincere pursuit of truth of the Scripture that was demonstrated by young adults in the conversation that night. Praful has since become increasingly involved in Awakenings community. Praful has a sincere zeal for living life and is enthusiastic about getting folks together and being diligent in including others. He is often the first to make new folks feel welcome. He can also sometimes be seen playing percussion with the worship team or coordinating volleyball. Vocationally, Praful is a design engineer at Newman Technologies.
Rebecca attended worship nights throughout high school, but didn’t become truly involved in Awakening until she was in college (her brother Matt was a local youth pastor who often brought his church's college aged students to worship nights). She is a vocalist on the worship team and can occasionally be seen creating art during worship nights. Rebecca’s busy schedule outside of Awakening includes working at Wendy’s and as a nanny. She is also pursuing an education at North Central State College to become a physical therapy assistant. After graduation she hopes to work in a local hospital and raise a family that honors God.
Sean became involved in Awakening after attending worship nights. He is an active member of the worship team. He plays a variety of stringed instruments and is always eager to learn something new. He is also a servant at heart, and can often be seen schlepping heavy equipment around on worship nights. the leadership teams efforts are greatly enhanced via the efforts of the awakening oversight board. it has been a high priority for awakening from the start to work closely with existing ministry efforts - a.k.a. churches. in order to ensure that this happens effectively we partnered with local pastors immediately to ensure that there was a working relationship with different local fellowship. Additionally, maintaining an active christian presence on our local college campus has been a priority since the beginning. So we endeavored to partner with administrators from our local campus. so, While the leadership team is most involved with the daily workings of awakening, the wisdom, resource and encouragement that the oversight board bring are invaluable.
